Hi all,

Today I'm proud to present the new reporting system that has taken quite some time to get working. In this post I'll be explaining how it works for both normal players and staff members. Note: Currently reporting local chat messages will not work, this will be fixed in the next few days. If a report is accepted then every player that reported the user will get mail from the server letting them know that their report was accepted. Please note that creating up to 5 false reports will prevent you from using the report feature. The server will also send you mail if your report was marked as false.

In the screenshot below, a player can be seen saying "basicaly sucks" so you can click on the message to report it like this:

This will bring up a menu where you can either confirm the report or cancel it in case you clicked on the message by accident:

And that's all you need to do to report a message now. Everything else that will be mentioned beyond this point is focused towards staff.

Staff changes - Most of these changes will be explained in staff chat

When using a certain command a GUI will open up with heads of all the reported users, hovering over the head will display the username of the reported player along with the message that was reported. If the same message is reported by multiple people then a counter will show and the list will order the reports starting from the highest count.

Clicking on the head of the reported player and message will then bring up a menu where staff can decide to either confirm a report, dismiss a report or mark a report as false.

By clicking on the green wool to confirm the report another menu will appear where you will be able to input the reason for the punishment. After that, you just need to click on the paper to confirm the punishment reason.

I know that there is also a command /report now too so what it says for you too enter is /report [user] [message] are we supposed to put in the message or the reason or for griefs or what.

You only need to click on the message and confirm it via the gui, using the command that is executed manually wouldn't work so no need for putting in a reason or anything. This isn't designed to deal with griefing but rather the chat messages.

A couple questions...

1. Would you have to report spam via the old system? If not, I'm not sure how reporting spam in the new system would work because it doesn't seem to indicate if messages are in the same chat frame or not.

2. Some rules vary on whether it's said in a certain channel.
+ No Violent Talk in Global Chat - (Such as saying you want to harm/kill another player, discussion of suicide, violent roleplays, or anything else with violent intent)
+ No Encouraging Spam - (Such as saying "say 123 to adopt a girl" or "say 678 if you love minecraft." Does not apply to local. advertisement chat or /msg)
+ No Advertising in /Global - Users advertising (skin comps, builds, roleplays, dating centres, etc) in global may first be asked to move to /advertising. Continuing to advertise in /global may result in a mute. This is at the online staff members' discretion.
If reported for advertising in global three times, users may be muted. This is at resolving staff members' discretion
Same/similar messages - 3+ of the same/similar message by one user within the chat frame in /global or /server
Local Spam - 5+ of the same message within the chat frame in local chat is punishable. /punish <user> Spam in /local

and more
For when local reporting is available, how would the staff member know if it's in the right chat channel to be punishable?

Maybe it would also be good for the report to have more details, if possible.

Sorry for double posting but I couldn't edit my last one.

3. How does a staff member know who reported the player? Or is promoting players mostly based on answering questions now?

Report spam with the forums, though the chat filter should already block most of it.
The channel the message was said in will be included with the reported message (probably by Monday)
